The career of Pikkpack shoes started as an university project, but the designer Sara Gulyas got so many admirers after wearing her own pair of Pikkpack shoes on a vacation in San Francisco, she decided to share her design with the world. She was inspired by the traditional Hungarian shoe, called „bocskor” that was made from one single piece of leather, so following the old traditions the Pikkpack shoes are also cut from only one piece of leather and the soles are sewn by hand.
What makes it DIY is the fact, that the owner can quickly transform the flat leather piece into a 3D piece of clothing by assembling the shoe with cotton laces, so in this way the manufacturing process is shared between the designer and the owner, moreover due to the natural materials the pieces are eco-friendly. The Pikkpack shoes are designed for both men and women and they are suitable for nearly every occasion as you can choose the colours and they are breathable but warm at the same time.
